LEO and GEO Business Satellite Broadband
LEO and GEO satellite broadband for UK business sites, installed and managed, with optional 4G and 5G backup on the same router.
Satellite broadband that works where cables do not
Low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite has changed what is possible for business sites without a fixed line. Performance that used to need fibre is now available anywhere with a clear view of the sky, and a site can be online in a few working days rather than months.
We supply both low Earth orbit (LEO) and geostationary (GEO) satellite services. LEO, using Starlink, is the right answer for most business sites. GEO still has real strengths for some installations, and because we offer both, we recommend the one that fits the site rather than the only one we sell.
Either way, we handle the hardware, installation, router and support. You get one supplier, one monthly price and one number to call.
What is included
- Business LEO or GEO satellite service on a business plan, not a residential tariff.
- Managed business router with wired ports and Wi-Fi, configured and tested before it arrives.
- Optional 4G or 5G backup on the same router, so the site stays online if the satellite link drops.
- Site check and engineer installation, with the dish mounted and cabled properly.
- UK support from people who understand routers, SIMs and satellite.
Pricing. LEO satellite from £TBC per month, with installation from £TBC. GEO satellite from £TBC per month. Add 4G/5G backup with the Satellite Resilient package. See full pricing.
LEO and GEO satellite compared
GEO satellites sit around 36,000 km above the equator and appear fixed in the sky. LEO satellites orbit only a few hundred kilometres up and move across it. That difference shapes everything from latency to the dish on your roof.
| LEO satellite | GEO satellite | |
|---|---|---|
| Orbit height | A few hundred km | Around 36,000 km |
| Latency | Low, typically tens of milliseconds | High, often over 500 ms round trip |
| Video calls and VoIP | Work well | Noticeable delay |
| Dish | Compact flat panel, self-aligning | Larger dish, precise pointing |
| Network | Large constellation of moving satellites | Established operators, fixed satellites |
| Best for | Offices, site cabins, events, video and cloud use | Backup and continuity, fixed installations, telemetry, and organisations wanting a second satellite operator |
For most sites we recommend LEO. GEO fits well where latency matters less than a long-established service, where you want a different operator from your primary link, or for telemetry and backup. Some critical sites use both. There is more detail in our guide to LEO and GEO satellite for business.
Where it fits
- Pre-ethernet: trading from day one while a leased line is being built.
- Temporary sites: construction cabins, events and pop-ups.
- Remote and rural sites: farms, estates and offices beyond the fibre.
- Backup: a fully independent second path for sites that cannot go offline.
What to know before you order
Satellite is very good, but it is not magic. Three things are worth knowing up front.
- The dish needs a clear view of the sky. Trees, tall buildings and poor roof positions cause short dropouts. The site check finds the right spot, and 4G/5G backup covers any gaps.
- Addresses are shared. Satellite services use shared (CGNAT) addressing, so you cannot port-forward to a device on site. Cloud-managed CCTV, remote support tools and outbound VPNs all work normally. If you need inbound access to something on site, tell us first and we will recommend the right setup.
- Speeds vary with local demand. Capacity is shared across users in an area. For typical business use this is rarely noticeable.
Common questions
How quickly can you install?
Most sites are installed within a few working days of order, subject to the site check and access. Tell us your deadline when you enquire.
Does it work in bad weather?
Heavy rain can reduce speeds for short periods. With 4G/5G backup on the router, the site stays online if the satellite link drops.
Can we move the equipment between sites?
Yes. Our temporary site packages are built for moving. Tell us how often you expect to relocate and we will set up the right plan.
Can we use our own router?
You can, but we recommend our managed router. It is what lets failover, monitoring and support work end to end.
